Hi there, and welcome to Adventures in Frugal. Thank you for the visit.
Adventures in Frugal (AinF) is a personal finance and lifestyle blog about saving toward financial independence while still chasing adventures.
Mario started AinF in March 2014 as a complement to his first blog, Debt BLAG, when his then-girlfriend (now fiance!) Christina decided to leave her full-time job to pursue a creative writing career — after backpacking through India and Southeast Asia.
By working hard and living frugally — hustling at two side gigs, packing lunches, and eating dinners at home — Christina was able to fund a three-month trip and launch her freelance career once she got back home to Brooklyn.
Seeing this, Mario realized that frugality isn’t about having less of everything; it’s about having more of whatever it is you really care about. Living frugally could be a path to more than financial freedom; it could also be a gateway to travel, taking risks, meeting new people, eating great food, public service, personal achievement, and expanding your mind.
He decided that this should be the premise for a new blog — Adventures in Frugal.
They’ve been documenting their adventures of living fully, while frugally, together ever since. 🙂
Christina is a creative writer with eternal wanderlust. Luckily, she’s figured out how to incorporate her thirst for adventure into her daily life, which she shares on this blog. Her writing has also appeared in RUBY, Paste, First We Feast, and Robb Report. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Mario writes about saving money, paying off debt, and investing toward financial independence. He started DebtBLAG.com in 2013 upon finishing grad school to document his journey out of $164,000 worth of student loans and credit card debt through frugal living and getting smart about personal finance. He lives and works in New York.
